Kangchenjunga area is famous for more than just possessing the third highest mountain in the world. A visit to this region provides the unique opportunity to view amazing contrasts of cardamom farming at its lowest elevations set against a backdrop of mountain panoramas accentuated by the Yalung glacier at its highest altitude. You will see vivid alpine grasslands, rocky hills, dense tropical forests showcasing brilliant colours of flowering rhododendrons, orchids, lilies … all in a relatively untouched paradise. Diversity can be found amongst the exotic animal species: snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, musk deer red panda and others. Birdlife thrives in the absence of foreign threats; Lophophorus, pheasant, red-billed blue magpie, are the major birds found here. The allure of this jewel extends beyond the scenery to the warmth of the locals who will leave a long lasting impression in your heart and mind… Beautiful Sherpa villages boasting ancient Buddhist chortens and monasteries such as Kyapra and Ghunsa; fluttering with prayer flags, situated in a deep valley of forested hillsides. Walking along mighty rivers and making camp in some of the most scenic places imaginable.. .This trek really has it all.
Difficult treks involve you walking for at least 6-8 hours or more each day.
