Highlights of this truly unforgettable paradise include the Langtang Valley which is enclosed by snow-capped mountains and features relatively untouched Tamang culture (known for farming, cattle breeding and weaving as well as their rich Tibetan heritage), and of course the high altitude sacred lake of Gosainkunda (4300m) in the South- West of the national park. Kyanjin Gompa (3740m) offers impressive hilltop views while Sing Gompa has delicious local yak cheese made in a factory there. Langtang is a haven of biodiversity, especially bird life… watch out for the beautifully coloured danphe pheasant which can be seen throughout the park. Gosainkunda Lake is spectacular at all times of the year… especially when frozen! This trek will provide you with a well-rounded mix of experiences and amazing nature.
These treks typically require you to do 6-7 hours each day over steep hilly terrain on usually rough trails but with no real extremes of weather. Treks in this category can include trekking to elevations of up to 5500m with daily ascends of around 400-700m.When trekking at higher altitudes, your body needs to adjust to lower levels of oxygen and this provides added physical challenge to the trek.
