The Pikey Peak Trek is a well-known for its amazing sunrises and sunsets featuring the outlines of the most spectacular towering mountain giants. It offers some of the best low-altitude views of Everest and other high peaks such as Annapurna, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Gauri Shankar and many others. Pikey Peak Trek combines a superb range of scenery and biodiversity accentuated by flowering rhododendrons, magnolias and wild orchids in the Spring time and a wide range of animal species. This trek offers great insights into the lives of Sherpa people by inviting you to experience the culture and Tibetan Buddhist religion which is central to their daily existence. You will be humbled by the monasteries (gompas) in Junbesi, Thupten Chholing, Taksindu and Chiwang. Your mountain flight from Phaplu back to Kathmandu offers an additional perspective of the Himalayas to your scenic drive to Jiri to begin the trek. This trek is perfectly suited to the photographer who wishes to capture the intense contrasts of colour in the natural and human landscapes.
Prior trekking experience is not necessary for taking part in an easy trek. Anyone who is fit and healthy enough to walk for 4-6 hours a day can manage moderate treks. These treks only involve lower altitude with daily ascents of around 300-600m on well-maintained paths and with easy access to local amenities.
