Manaslu Volunteer Trek

Combining a challenging 177 kilometre trek that weaves along Buri Gandaki River Gorge and traverses Larke La Pass (5106m) and Manaslu Base Camp (4800m) with unique opportunities to work alongside locals at Shree Bishnu Primary School, Manaslu Volunteer Trek has it all. Rich in cultural immersion and high on off-the-beaten-track camping adventure, this trek allows you to enrich your mind, body and soul. The experience of circumnavigating the mighty two-horned Mount Manaslu (8156m) and being able to take in the breathtaking views from atop Larke La pass are simply unforgettable. Add in the unspoilt Tibetan culture and the chance to be part of a community development project that enhances the lives of children and their families living in a remote area and you have the makings of an amazing, once in a lifetime adventure.

Located in Gorkha region, Manaslu Circuit trekking route and side trail to Dhorat, a Tamang village, to Shree Bishnu Primary School offers many hidden natural gems. A major highlight for the discerning traveler is the fact that the area sees limited tourists due to its proximity to the Manaslu restricted trekking area.

Difficulty level

These treks typically require you to do 6-7 hours each day over steep hilly terrain on usually rough trails but with no real extremes of weather. Treks in this category can include trekking to elevations of up to 5500m with daily ascends of around 400-700m.When trekking at higher altitudes, your body needs to adjust to lower levels of oxygen and this provides added physical challenge to the trek. It is important to be physically fit and to prepare your body by doing regular exercise prior to embarking on your trek. Previous hiking or camping experience is preferable.
